The Final, which determines the final round of "Tavaszlesen 2025", was held on June 11, 2025 at the Szamárhát Visitor Center in Kesznyéten, where the 17 two-person teams with the highest scores in the first round compared their knowledge. The competition, which consisted of 11 tasks based on pre-suggested topics, was also enriched by practical parts such as frog sound recognition or field plant knowledge, and this year, the already traditional folk song singing could not be left out, which is a special highlight in the list of tasks of our Final. Thanks to our invited referee, Attila Petrilla, tangible, real shepherd objects also appeared in one of the tasks of the competition.
The points of the Final can be found on the "Tavaszlesen contest" page. The eight most successful teams were invited to the competition's summer camp as a prize, and the other teams were awarded a valuable book prize. In addition, the finalists were presented with a unique badge, a certificate, a logo canvas bag, a copy of the "TermészetBúvár" magazine, and educational materials introducing the species of the year courtesy of the Bükk Local Group of the Hungarian Ornithology and Nature Conservation Association (MME).
The "Tavaszlesen" traveling trophy this year was won by the Csigaforgatók team (as you see on the photo as well), consisting of Laura Csáki (8.b) and Kata Pétervári (8.b), who came from Tiszalök, and the cup moved to the Kossuth Lajos Elementary School and School of Art in Tiszalök for one year. Their preparatory teacher was: Kornélia Fegyveresné Dankó.
We would like to express our gratitude to the teachers who took on the role of contact person in the participating educational institutions for the entire semester, as it is primarily through them that the announcement about our Public Foundation's competition series reaches the students, and they are the ones who can encourage students to participate and help interested teams to be properly prepared to participate in the competition.
We would like to thank the volunteers who helped at the Finals - Zsófia Kiss, Zsuzsanna Mária Pap, Sára Patai and Botond Szirkó - and Antónia Berecz who helped with the preparations for the first round, without whom we would not have been able to organize this year's competition in this form.
We would also like to thank Péter Somoskői, the head of the Bükk Local Group of the Hungarian Ornithology and Nature Conservation Association (MME), for offering educational materials, which we were able to give to the participating teams and teachers at the Finals.
The "Tavaszlesen" environmental knowledge competition series has been organized regularly by our Public Foundation since 2007. Within the framework of the competition announced every year, we would like to encourage children living in the region in a playful way to get to know the natural wealth and beauty of the region, the farming traditions of the Tisza region, the unique world of herding, and the domestic animal breeds linked to the history of the Hungarian people, to discover the value in all of this, and to recognize the importance of protecting our environment based on their experiences.
Thank you for your participation, and we wish the teams and their teachers a pleasant summer full of natural experiences!
